Carolina Castorena was born in El Paso, Texas of Mexican descent. She was diagnosed at an early age with illness that almost took her life. She was three years old when her family moved to California.

Carolina came from a family of nine. Being a child of an alcoholic, they had to grow up fast to survive. At the age of sixteen, she left home to get married to the man who would love her for the rest of his life. She had her first child at the age of seventeen. In 1990, her husband died at the age of 48 of alcoholism/drug addiction. Carolina was left with a 14-year-old son. Carolina now has 5 wonderful children and 10 awesome grandchildren.

Carolina worked with the youth at John Glenn High School in Norwalk, California for eleven years. She mentored the youth with the wisdom of her own valuable experience. She empowered the youth through a 12-step program. Carolina started a youth group in Norwalk, and a women’s support group in Newport Beach and San Juan Capistrano. She imparted into the youth self-esteem and a more positive outlook on life.

Carolina felt the need to start a parenting group; she worked with parents and youth in Long Beach, Los Angeles, and in Lawndale. She again implemented a 12-step program. In addition, Carolina has done presentations on behalf of her organization to motivate and impact the youth. She educated them on alcohol/drug addiction, and she imparted much into their lives.

Sheriff Lee Baca was one of those Phenomenal Individual that shared his story on the show. The show airs four times a week and will soon be airing six times a week.
